Hello, curious what you guys think of my latest 1857 acquisition. I believe the markings on this coin are from a broken die?,,pretty sure. Has marking on both the obverse and reverse for you to check out:

But the coin looks like it was green/dark color and someone cleaned it a bit. When this happens the surface can flake away like this coin.

Some acidic like silver polish/cleaners. Note the rough texture on some areas of the coin? That is the original surface. Where it is smooth it is where it has flaked off the coin leaving two levels on some areas.

I think you are seeing damage/corrosion.
