Aldi's grocery stores have their carts outside. You have to pay a quarter to unlock them and then you get the quarter back after you're done. What surprised me was the banner outside the store above the carts.

It has a large picture of the front of a State Quarter.with an S mint mark!

Convenient clip art or subliminal message that their store is superior in quality?

You should change the banner when they're closed....

I have a difficult time thinking Aldi is superior to anything... At least the ones in my area...

But it has me wondering... My wife did get a 1999S Delaware Proof at Publix one day... (no, not silver!)

Hmmm... that Aldi is sort of on the way home...

Probably the first or the only 'stock photo' that they could find. I think that it would take way more then subliminal messages to make anyone even begin to think about using the words Aldi and superior quality in the same sentence. Actually you might be the first person to ever do so.

That IS very interesting ! Surely the advertising team knew what they were doing, but I really doubt the public would ever notice that ! There's supposed to be 170 million coin collectors in the U.S. now, but I just don't believe the regular citizen would notice that !! Good eye man !

If the weather is OK there are always kids running around asking people if they want their carts returned. If their cars are far enough away from the return station, the kids win a quarter.
This is the same at O'Hare airport and also Union Station Downtown Chicago.

If you want to make some money, go sit in your car in their parking lot when it is pouring down rain. Wait for peopl eto just leave the carts in the parking lot and take them back and get the money. I use to do this as a kid and made soem good money. people get real lazy when it is raining out, they can't be bothered for a quarter.

Hey, you folks get off cheap, ALDI trolleys here in Australia are $2 each & no-one abandons them. You never see ALDI trolleys littering the street or anywhere else for that matter.

Woolworths & Coles trolleys are abandoned like trash all over the place. If all trolleys carried $2 deposit, admittedly there'd be no trolley collector jobs. I know if I ran a supermarket I would absolutely have 'deposit' only trolleys.

Often times at Coles or Woolies, there are no trolleys because they're all scattered around the car park, or adjacent streets or wherever, anywhere but in the trolley bays!

If anybody does abandon an ALDI trolley, it's snaffled prety quick by someone nearby & they return it for the $2. I doubt ALDI ever have to replace or repair trolleys as they don't get the same rough treatment.

Whats up with the aldi bashing? Atleast around here they have good quality stuff and also have the aldi double gaurantee on all of there own brands.( If not satisfied bring back for refund and new product.)

As for the banner that is pretty cool, although probably just a stock photo that they found.
