Do not clean coins. Collectors value condition, patina, and provenance; among many other things. Being old does not make a coin valuable. It helps. Where was it minted? What is the face value? Is there a date on it? Some coins do not have dates. We are interested in your questions, honest. But we need something to work with. Please post again, soon. |

Can you show the other side as well?
It isn't a real coin--I can tell that right away from the legend alone. Gibberish, poorly engraved, with backwards letters. The person who made this was working from memory or perhaps a very poor quality picture.
My best guess is this is an extremely low purity gold made in China or thereabouts, for jewelry purposes. A jewler would be able to tell you if it has any precious metal at all.

I guess this medal should imitate an Austrian coin. They were minted with that eagle around 1800 and from what I see this may be the worst attempt to copy a Maria Theresia Thaler.

The only good way to determine the age is to know who created it.
But it isn't a genuine coin. The side pictured is a terrible copy of some coins from around 1800.
