All I know is that in 2009 they will "re-design" the Sacajewea coin. Each year, from that year forward, it will depict something (on the back of the coin) that Native Americans have accomplished or something historical they've done in contribution to this country.
Anybody going to buy a bunch of Sac's before they "change" them ? The last year "before" a change and the "first" year "of" the change should be interesting to a coin collector ? I think I'm going to continue to buy the rolls for awhile.......haven't done an album with them, but I might in the future. That "change" could be interesting.
But I certainly haven't heard when they will STOP producing them. Let me know if anyone hears about stopping the production of ANY coin in the future please ! Ha Ha

I think buying the rolls for 07 and 08 may be a good idea. They cut back the mintage on Sac's with the new legislation for the reverse changes so instead of 33% of total mintage for the year (sac's VS. Pres dollars ) it will be more like 20% of the total mintage. They might be the lowest mintages yet for Sac's. As for stopping- As long as they are making money, they will not stop making any coin.

I have heard the same thing.

I have also heard that there is some ambiguous language in the recent legislation that is preventing them from being made, but that the Mint is trying to get some clarification and/or authorization for them.

My head started to hurt, so I gave up on finding the answer to this.

I am really interested in this too. The mint is holding back the 08 annual sets due to the Sac issue as well. It will be interesting to see how it turns out! I, for one, would like to see them continue. My album will only be 2 pages if they stop now!

I hear you! That is all we need, another "short" album... Franklin, Mercury, Buffalo, IHC, SBA... all two page albums I have! Grrrrr!

When I replaced the binders on some albums a few years back, I actually decided to combine IHC, Buffalo nickels, and Mercury dimes into one six-page album. I like it
