Hi All,

When I picked up this coin, I originally attributed it as the KM#10 variety. After looking online a bit, I am not so sure. It looks a lot more like the bottom coin in this auction.

http://bombayauctions.com/currentvi...11&lotno=396

Most noticeably, it does not have the dots on each side of the "trident".

Can anyone help me with this coin?

Thanks,
Doug

This is by all means of Chamba, Sree singh. This variety has been issued during the reign of Sham singh too. Presence or absence of dots beside trident is very common in Indian Princely State coins. They are not significant in crude coins. The illustrations in catalogues can be taken only as representative. Unless there is a gross change in design or script, you can attribute IPS coins with reasonable accuracy.

Thank you so much for the great information. Is KM#10 the correct number for this coin?

Yes. You can classify it as a minor variant of KM#10.
