I recently purchased a coin similar to this, Lithuanian coin with the date stamped 1509

What-Is-The-Oldest-Coin-With-The-Year-Stamped-On-It?

This is the oldest genuine coin that I ever saw with the year on it.

I was wondering, what is the oldest existing coin on the market with the year stamped on it?

As for AD dates, it's 1234. More about that here:

Thank you for the info.

Is there anything BC with dates? Perhaps from other calendar systems?

Yes, Nosar, many BC coins have dates on them. As you suggest, these are from other calendar systems. A number of cities, for example, used the Seleucid calendar that started in 312 BC. The ancient kingdoms of Parthia and Elymais used this dating system on a number of their coins as well. Greek letters were used for dates, with each letter having a numerical equivalent. Once armed with the numerical equivalents to the letters, figuring out the dates is pretty easy...but of course you need to know specifically which calendar system is being used. That system tells you, essentially, when year zero is - like 312 BC for the Seleucids.

Of course if a coin said 25 BC on it as a date I'd probably question it's authencity... :)

Here is an example of a tetradrachm from Arados in Phoenicia dated 193 which is 67/66 BC. This type has a date span from 137-45 BC.

Well done. I had no clue references to the founding date of Rome appeared on coins. Not that I could ever afford this example.

I have one that is dated 327 BC. I think the earliest dated coin is 331 BC, which was a Sodom tetradrachm.
