Hi CCFers,

It's been awhile since someone has posted a question about supplies.

Does anybody have any good recommendations where to purchase supplies (cardboard high quality 2x2 flips, 2x2 pocket pages, currency sleeves etc) in the greater Toronto area? I'm looking for a shop closer to public transportation (TTC).

I do know that you can purchase some supplies from CA and Gatewest via mail, but am looking for somewhere close by that I can run into and pick up, rather than wait for shipping.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I pick up supplies at Canadian Coin and Currency at Yonge and Crosby in Richmond Hill. It's a VERY nice store and highly recommend visiting if you've never been before. Their accessories inventory is quite extensive.

You can take the Viva Blue bus line from Finch Subway Station and get off at Crosby. You need to pay a York Region Transit fare $4. If it's a quick visit, you could probably get back to Finch Station on the same fare as you get a two hour transfer. The route is fairly frequent at all times of the day from every 7-10 minutes throughout the day.

For the times I am too lazy to drag my butt out of the house, I order from http://www.imaginaire.com out of Quebec City as they have free shipping to Toronto if your order is above $50.

If it's for supplies, I agree with wilsonwu

Cdn coin and currency sells flaps (100 for $5.50 or so). And they have hard cases, slabs, coin boxes, capsules, etc. If you are looking just for flaps or square cases, there's a small place on Victoria park and ellemsere in the Parkway Mall. It's called keys and collectibles. He sells flaps (20 for $1.35 or so) . He also has paper money pages, slips, and coin capsules

Wilsonwu and Paulsz - Thanks for the suggestions! I appreciate the mapping as well Wilson - many thanks.

I might try to swing by to the CCC store on a day when I have a bit more time. Otherwise, I might just do an internet order and ship it to me. I've been to their store once a few years ago. If I remember correctly, it was close to a 2 hour one-way commute for me.

I was in Imaginaire in March actually by coincidence. We were travelling to Quebec City and took a gander over as they were hosting a coin exchange. It completely went above me to buy coin supplies from them. Arghh.

If you don't mind going to the west end of the Toronto area, you can check out Metro Coin & Banknote near the corner of Jane St. and Annette St. I would guess a 10 min walk up from the Jane St. subway station or there has to be a bus route up Jane.

If they don't have what you want in stock, they can order it for you -- as you would expect with most 'agreeable' dealers.

Hope this helps

If you are on the West side of Toronto, there is Imperial Coin and Stamp in Hamilton. He is very rude to deal with, but he has a lot of inventory. If you are in St. Catharines, there is a really nice coin shop in Welland. I've bought a few items from them, and they have a lot of 'back room' inventory.
