Got this in a bag of dimes today fairly cheap. What do you think this one grades and does it qualify for FB? I'm not familiar with the Roosevelt FB designation, so I'm not sure what is and what isn't. Looking at the top grades for this date with FB on PCGS site makes this look like it would be FB.

Some info on Full Band (PCGS), also known as Full Torch (NGC), Roosevelt dimes:

I'm no expert, but your coin looks at least close. I suspect the lower horizontal band might be the deciding factor, i.e., would the depression (abrasion?) in the middle of the lower horizontal band disqualify the coin from the FB/FT designation?

Great question!

I find it interesting that Whitman Publishing discounts the value of the Roosevelt dime Full Band/Full Torch designation: "Some with complete separation on the lower two bands have been called Full Torch (FT) or Full Bands (FB), but interest in this distinction seems to be minimal in today's marketplace."

That sentence appears in the 2012 Grading Coins by Photographs, and in the 2016 Mega Red Book.

But recent ebay sales suggest otherwise.

Could well make 65, though I'm no expert on this series for sure. I think the FB distinction is probably a bigger deal on Mercs.
