This came in a lot of coins from someone's grandfathers collection. I'm only seeing this being made in 1890 as a proof with very low mintage. Is that correct or am I missing something? Improper storage looks to have gotten the best of the color as its fairly dirty. Is this the real deal 1890 proof coin with 50 mintage? I'm not seeing anything that screams fake, the rest of the coins in the lot are just as old. There's a few that NGC graded that are less than MS60 so its possible this might be it.

This site here has quite a bit of info about them, http://www.tokencoins.com/gr08.htm I've been searching to see if counterfeits were ever made, and I'm not seeing anything. I've just never seen one before so I have no idea if its genuine. I really hope it is as the coin lot only cost $25.
