I'm really curious to know why there was a flip flop on the decision to mint the $200 for $200.

RCM cancelled the $200 for $200 as a May issue. Hmmmmm..,maybe to avoid people achieving MC status before cut off date of June 30th? And, I still do not know if it counts towards MC status or not. So confusing. Anyways, I like the series and I have two of each previous issues. The collection will be for my two sons one day and hopefully they pass them down too.

That's a great plan so long as they can still redeem them at a bank one day if they so choose. It's a good way to save money for future generations but if the laws change as they have in other countries with a similar X for X program, silver prices have to skyrocket for them to be worth their face value. Some of the designs have been very nice but I've stop collecting this series.

For me, whether I can redeem them or not makes no difference. I do not expect to be able to redeem any NCLTs. IMO, the fact that they are issued at face value should only make them more attractive from a NCLT collector's perspective. Sure, the design and finish aren't necessarily the best but some high priced NCLTs aren't so well crafted either. Personally, with X for X I found a segment that makes a lot more sense to me. The coins are round and have pure silver. Less gimmicky and colorful perhaps but closer to what I want in a coin. Plenty of stories suggest that some of those coins have been spent in lieu of regular bills. When was the last time you paid something with a triangular milk coin?

It's not so much that I want to spend them but rather just that'd I'd like peace of mind knowing that the many $x for $x coins I've given to family members over the years in stead of bills could be cashed in down the road. If I got a milk coin at face value, I probably would cash it in if I couldn't find a quick buyer. It's not coin that strikes an interest to ne

It's perfectly fine. If anything else, don't expect recipients to value such gift the same way you do. I personally do not like pink or yellow shirts. A gift that comes with a disclaimer of "your own piece of mind" isn't a real gift. You need to re-think the whole concept.
