Hi,

I looked through some more coins..... Here's what I see and I'd sure like your opinions. The I in DEI is less styleized and points to the denticle making this a shoulder fold.
The post that I was reading that put me on to looking for these stated that this only changed the value in higher grade coins. Does this change the value of my coin or should I look at this a good practice in finding the same thing on better coins? And does this same standard hold true for the nickle?

Thanks,

That's a '53 SF! From what I've read, this variety is a bit scarce, and only commands premiums in the higher grades. I think Charest has undervalued this variety, but Charlton's only has prices in AU or better, where the AU SF is listed at $8 vs $1 for the NSF variety.

The reverse of your coin is interesting because there's some kind of strike error that's left marks of the denticles in the rim of the coin...I haven't seen that before.

Thanks Kurt, It was your list of key dates on another post that got me going on identifying what I have. I had noticed that the strike looked to be off center but with very limited exposure to looking at coins suspected that this was a common occurrence. I took another picture of the area I believe you're talking about. How common are error such as this?

Akglen-
You're probably right about die alignment, I just haven't seen it before.
Apparently it's not common if a Canadian collector hasn't either.

From the views of both sides of the coin, the off-center is noticable, and from the few cents I have seen so far, not too xcommon. It is an interestiong coin, tho'. I doubt it has any extra value because of the feature.
