Here is an 1863 cent. The think I like about this piece is that it has its original "white cent" color. Many of these pieces tend to tone to a golden or brownish color. The alloy that was used was 88% copper and 12% nickel.

This type was issued from 1860 until mid 1864 when the bronze cents were phased into production.

No, they are tiny spots, but they are brown, not white.
