Picked this up at what I feel was a fair price for any ancient billon coin:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ANCIENT-IND...1482?txnId=0

Needed a few types to bridge the gap in the descent of the Indo-Sassanian drachm from the quasi-official issues all the way down through the highly degraded omkara type. I have seen this type before, but this was the first one (for under $15) that had a recognizable face.

Info on these is even more sparse than on the Gadhaiya Paisa. I have found a picture from some catalog of what the type is supposed to look like:

Anyone care to weigh in how these fit into the "big picture"? Also, is this wear, or were the coins all poorly struck?

You got it for a great price. I paid $9 for the one I have,

Indo-Sassanian-

Indo-Sassanian-

These coins weren't struck very well, this condition is what these coins are usually found in.

Neat coin. These were apparently struck by the "Pratihara-Pala supremacy."
