thanks all for the complements and thoughts. I have been following and collecting isle of man angels for years now, nearly all 1 oz., I have them all except for the INCUSE 1 oz. gold angel.

Contrary to what might be assumed, I have a very modest lifestyle and income, it is just that I have become addicted to accumulating coins, especially the angels. how can I afford to do this? simple. I don't pay my bills until forced to and buy coins instead!

the guy originally wanted 20k for it, then he had a "sale" on it, bringing it down to 18k. you would not believe what losses I incurred in order to get this one, I sometimes follow a single coin for months on end.

ebay has not been my only source, I have gone through APMEX and a number of other non-eBay coin sellers. In 8 years, I have seen about 6 of the 5 oz angels, 2 of the 10 oz angels, 2 of the 15 oz angels (one I bought, the other one in ms 68 is on ha auctions to be auctioned off in a few weeks. the latest bid on that one is $14,000, auction is on 9.9.2016. here is the listing for that one, in my opinion mine looks better and that I why I was grousing about getting the 67 grade.

I have never seen any of the 20 or 25 oz angels for sale. I agree that the coin has a very limited market. Once I was interested in a 10 oz. angel but the guy wanted too much in my opinion, he would go no lower than 18k at a time when gold was lower than it is today.

again, thanks for your comments and thoughts... mike

I'm not at all big on slabs, but I wouldn't have purchased the coin to begin with unless it was 3rd party certified. There's definitely a great deal of potential for fraud here. So, it's good that you now know for sure that it's authentic. I think that in and of itself is worth the cost of submission. I honestly wouldn't sweat the 67 versus the 68 thing. They were probably just overly conservative because they don't see many of them. You're dealing with an extremely thin market. If you ever go to sell, it will likely take time to find the right buyer.
