Show us what you currently have or have had in the past. Old CGA or new CGA, doesn't matter. I'll start with this RADAR/REPEATER pair in new CGA holders.

Here is my first CGA note purchase, going way back. It's an early-generation holder, thin enough to see subtle paper wave. I would cut and resubmit this to PMG if I wanted to sell it, but there's no hurry.

The first two notes I posted were from 2010, when under new ownership, CGA put a star on the back of the holder and mentioned "Original Paper Quality" on the front (if applicable). Later, in 2012, CGA started putting the star on the front of the holder. PMG claimed they had first dibbies on the star, so in 2014 CGA started using the diamond, which they still use today. I know both Jess Lipka, the founder and originator of CGA, and John Spinelli, the current owner. CGA started in 1998 and was the first paper grading company. CGA notes were once popular at Heritage, but since the lawsuit have been banned. You will still see CGA notes on Heritage when searching through their archives. Some CGA trivia.....the CGA labels are made by the American Bank Note Company.

Quote: I know both Jess Lipka, the founder and originator of CGA If you know the original CGA founder, he can verify the following; Many High Grade Large Size Notes Certified in CGA Holders had been reholdered at even higher grades in both PMG & PCGS due to removing the notes from the CGA Holder, Boarders Trimmed, then submitted to Both new Kids on the Block.. Serial Numbers don't lie, and I wish I could find the photos posted around 2006 showing numerous Notes in their CGA Holder, and later in the PMG/PCGS Holders.. As for posting my Notes - - - - I have them packed away...

Sorry, Broken-Coin, what do you mean by "Boarders Trimmed" here?

This holder is from the middle period......having the star on the back, and then the front, and finally the diamond.

Bought these from the same seller several years ago. These are three tough stars. They all crossed exactly as grade to PMG.

A noted, my experience has been somewhat different. I often lose a point as anticipated, but I nearly always get an EPQ paper rating on first generation CGA notes I have resubmitted to PMG (that is, those without any paper quality designation to start with) and virtually always on the newer-generation resubmissions.

I have quite a lot of CGA material, some of which I have posted here in the past. I will try to show some of my favorites (plus new additions) on a regular basis if there is interest. Here is a $2 '28-F star with bright cherry embossing. This would have been printed just after the war, between mid-1946 and mid-1949.

Quote: Sorry, Broken-Coin, what do you mean by "Boarders Trimmed" here? They had trimmed as small amount as possible from the edge/edges to have the Top & Bottom Margins equal + same for the left Margin equal to the Right Margin.. You would be surprised what a 1/16" difference makes.

I bought this last year and it is a favorite among CGA notes. Boy, how I wish we still had notes like this today (though I'm sure it would end up looking something like the Franklin, virtually a cartoon character).

Hi all - Not sure this thread has legs, but if there is interest, I will continue to show some of my better CGA notes. Here is an early generation Battleship which I can find no fault with on either side - bright embossing and perfect registry.

Awesome notes Mr.Frog. These two say Panama Run, which may or may not have any importance. Maybe just a marketing tool...
