There was a post on the now locked "Questions for Her Majesty the Queen's Folks" that incorrectly gave the length of Queen Victoria's reign as "73 1/2 years." It was actually 63 1/2 years, from 20 June 1837 to 22 January 1901. That means Queen Elizabeth II, who will celebrate her Diamond Jubilee of Accession upon the 60th year of her reign in 2012, only has to survive another four years or so beyond that in order to become the longest reigning British Monarch at the age of around 90. As her mother, Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, lived to 103, and because Queen Elizabeth appears to be in excellent health, that seems, barring some unfortunate occurrence, very likely at this point.
Hi Lee', I neglected to mention in European history, I think the Asian kings often live the longest of all... Currently, King Bumibol-whatsit of Thailand is the longest reigning monarch, having been monarch since the 1940's...
