Hello all,

Here are some much better pictures of the coin I'd posted previously. I would estimate the grade to be around AU-50 or higher, and value to be somewhere between 1000 and 6500$? I'd appreciate your skilled eyes and more extensive knowledge :)

@marcus, this coin does not look almost uncirculated to me. I see some wear on the letters and crown.

I'd probably go with VF or more likely XF.

First I checked Krause, but as catalogue prices does often not reflect the real value, I googled this coin - and yes it do sell for a lot more than the Krause price. With my status I am not allowed to link to any former sales, but I can share with I found out.

I looked at two former sales, one NGC graded VG8 sold for $322 and one some better sold for $500. From the pictures your coin has many problems - so the value will probably be much lower than the VG8 - this is my opinion. I do believe these kind of problems will make the collectors avoid this coin.

And I am sorry to bring bad news for you. It might be the reason why no one has judged the coin value yet besides me now.

I would say it's in many ways in very similar condition to this coin, PCGS graded AU-53. Mine has an added light olive patina...

Here, I've pointed out some weakness in the strike or wear that, in my view, make my coin superior to the AU53, in some respects.

Also, is my coin a details coin? I'm not sure if there's enough corrosion to warrant that.

So at least I know it's somewhere between VG and AU

If anyone cares to elaborate on what differentiates my coin from the PCGS AU53 coin (in term of condition or value), that would be great. Otherwise I still don't see it's not in about the same condition...

Thanks for all the responses though, this is a tough one to grade. There are examples of this coin in AU50 that show enormously more detail than the AU53 coin I posted earlier...

Marcus, Did you ever get your coin graded? I recently purchased one in vf-25. I found this post trolling the net for more information about my example. Was happy to find this post from our site on google.

Actually now I see why you didn't get much of a response. You posted in world coins. Admins may want to move this to the classic US coin section.
