I don't have a facility to take a decent photo but I recently acquired a KM 91.2 or KM 91.3 10 Lirot coin from Israel. I'm not familiar with the open and closed style of 'mem' that Krause mentions. Does anyone have a picture of either style that I could compare to the coin I have? I did a search but couldn't find a prior string on this.
thanks,

It took me a while, but I found it. A "mem" is a letter. In the picture you can see the location of the "mem" is where you can also find a star. In the picture you can see the left side "mem" has a bit of an open part on bottom left where on the right it is closed. Does this help?

thank you AJL. I only had one coin that had the 'mem' so I couldn't tell which version it was. The picture on the left of the open 'mem' seems to also either have a reflection or perhaps the left side of the letter is also open. it is just that small opening on the bottom left of the letter that makes it open?

On the coin, yes. In actual Hebrew...
