Numismedia: "G" = $48 / "VG" $83 PCGS: "G" = $52 / "G" to "F" somewhere between $52 and $2250(?) Alaska Coin Exchange: "AG" = $19.95 Any thoughts on that spectrum? Have at this grade, too, thanks. Jim Image: 1921SSLHalfobv.jpg33.09 KB Image: 1921SSLHalfrev.jpg29.74 KB

j_h_s I would grade this G6. The rim is too weak for a VG.

I agree with G-6. I think the obverse grades VG, but not the reverse. A few more values to toss out there: Coin Prices (Krause): G $46 / VG $70 Coin Values ( CoinWorld): G $55 / VG $80

Thankee folks.
Any thoughts on a coin this date being worth up to $2200 in "F" condition?

I think you're seeing a typo. There is a jump in value to Fine, but more like $220 (Coin Prices).

j_h_s, you misread the PCGS site- the next grade above G4 @$2200 is not F12, it is VF30(why F12 and VF20 were skipped, I have no idea )

That's a nice looking 21-S and I agree with the assessments thus far at G-6. A nice coin for the grade. I think since it is pre-1922 strike it is taken into consideration that details are weak, a TPG might give this one a VG grade.

Thanks you all...Bio, PCGS recently updated their price guide and changed all the designated "grades" at the top of the sheet and I have difficulty trying to determine what the grades are with those numbers...some are associated with F grade, some not.

bio said, "why F12 and VF20 were skipped, I have no idea?"
Nor I...the grade charts differ from coin to coin for the same dates.
