So, I was at a flea market and there was a box of various OBW rolls of LMC. The seller wanted $3 each, and I bought the whole box. Nothing really spectacular until I found a roll of 1969-S.

So the question is, do I open the roll looking for the DDO, and most likely end up with group of Unc's of low worth. Or do I keep it intact. It has more value as an unc roll, right now. Though I honestly don't have any plans to sell it.

Oh, and for those who are curious, the rest of the rolls are from 67 to 78.

Tough call ... But finding a DDO 69 .... Would be more than rare.

For me, when I find rolls like that, I just stick the rolls into a roll box
and figure it out later. But the I have had rolls like that for decades.

Open it and look for "any" error/variety. Think of it as a lottery, your only into it for $3.

How many total rolls were in the box ? And did you pay him $3 for each roll ?
I would keep the 69-S roll intact . But then again it's probably because I'm a OBW roll collector .
Getting back to that box ; If your going to buy rolls in bulk especially at a flea market , always ALWAYS make them an offer for the whole box . 9 times out of 10 they will take it as long as it's fair . you never mentioned if you did this or not ,so I'm just throwing it at ya .

There were 17 rolls in the box, and I offered $40 for the whole thing. Which was accepted rather quickly.

Nice buy!

I would open them, but I have very little self control when it comes to things like that.

Are they circ or BU?

I'd get to cracking! Look for high grade gems.

After a lot of searching, this is the best one I've found. If you can find one nicer, I'd be interested:

I'll keep you in mind Bad Thad! I know I have better than that...but in Brown. I'm originally from SF and have rolls of 69 S's that I put away, from Circulation back in 69.

I thought I had a few rolls of 69s sitting in my safe. I just went and looked at there are 12 rolls of nice red BU 68s, but no 69s

One of these years I'll go through the 10's of thousands cents I have tucked away.
