Seems kind of silly if you ask me - and what's the reason why they haven't put it back into production? Makes no sense to me...

I assume they discontinued it due to sales - but I'm sure that the materials they're putting in to this books costs them very little and their sales in general aren't that crazy. I know there's taxes and businesses that charge them and stuff, but if they just sold it online, it'd probably be a lot easier. Seems like the demand is crazy high now, considering the prices they sell for USED on ebay. A single page is like $20.

I'm so happy I got mine a few years ago. I dropped out of the hobby for a few years shortly after getting it. I'd be kicking myself now if I'd waited. As for your question, it almost always comes down to money. Dansco would still be making them if they felt the profit was worth the effort. Maybe demand will get high enough again for them to justify making more.

They did not discontinue it, at least not officially.

They initially said they were going to redesign it, but that was years ago now. Halting production on an old design in anticipation of a new design is not uncommon. So, a newly designed 7070 is what we have been waiting to see.

It has been speculated that Dansco is not motivated to work on coin albums when they make so much more doing corporate project work. I have mentioned my solution to that problem before.

This is total speculation:

I think that when the US started going crazy on coin design changes after the success of the 50 State Quarters Program, Dansco aimed to redesign the entire 7070 album; they can't just keep releasing supplemental modern coins pages as the album can't physically hold any more pages once you add the gold supplemental page.

I then think they did a cost-benefit analysis on the redesign project and concluded that it would be more profitable to focus their energies elsewhere or on other projects. Perhaps that changes at some point in the future, but they won't release the redesigned album until they think it makes sense business-wise.

Separate Question: If you own a 7070, would you purchase a new redesigned album that includes all the modern coinage? My answer to that is no.

I agree. Too many new designs - I am happy ending it where it currently ends.

I have no desire to upgrade my 7070 to a new one if and when it ever comes out. It took me 23 years just to get this far, I would not want to move the goalpost now.
