Just a guess but I'd say it was loosely butted up against a wrinkly piece of paper.

Whatever the actual cause whether it actually was in a roll or a crinckled piece of old paper in a drawer etc this would be classified as an end roll toner. Given that the reverse is clean if say end roll is a strong possibility.

Yes, end of roll would be as good a guess as any but there's no way of knowing for sure.

Looks like some sort of liquid spilled on it and caused a chemical reaction of some sorts.

The ultimate in spidery toning! Might be AT, but it's a very cool look.

Defiantly not AT. All you need to do is look at the recessed letters of LIBERTY to know that even if you don't know the color progressions of NT

I am not sure if this is AT or not, The obverse of this coin is telling me it isn't AT.
I normally Love brightly coloured toning on a coin But Not this one as I find the toning to be distracting and not at all attractive.
Each to their own But I wouldn't want a coin that looked like this one in my collection .
Rest in Peace

You are right. I didn't look too closely. I just saw the oil slick, and I assumed AT.

No problem type. If you're not a Morgan toning enthusiast this can be a tricky one to the untrained eye

There's no question there are some dealers, like Jhon E Cash, who are very enthusiastic about their products.
