This auction makes my eyes water, they go under my collecting catagry, THESE litterally make my eyes water. :(

I would do anything to get them, I can afford them but how can I convince my dad to bid on them?

That all, theyre all Pre-1900 and I collect Pre-1900, what can or should I do?

Thanks in advance, I really nead those albums.

P.S- I've never ever bid on an online auction before, never, I only stare at those wonderous coins.
Rest in Peace

Kid, these are definitely in a target-rich environment, and very delicious looking. If it didn't matter to me which album I won as long as I won one, what I would do if I wanted even one of the albums is to watch the auctions closely, then bid at the last minute on the one which has gathered the least attention or is going for the least amount (presuming the price isn't too outrageous, not necessarily a good presumption). This would give me the greatest chance to win one (or more if I felt solvent enough). I have no idea what the popularity of any of these albums will be, but I suspect given the size of each, they're gonna go for hundreds or, in the instance of Canada and Great Britain, perhaps thousands each.

Whatever you bid, if you decide to do so, wait for all the images to download for your target album, list the separate coins, and try to place a value on each - a monumental task in itself. Divide that figure by half and make that your maximum bid. I didn't download all the pictures for even one of the albums, but it is likely that all albums have had the most valuable coins cherry-picked out. However, the remaining coins could very well still have a lot of value; this will have to be determined by you and if your needs will be met by whatever is in the album of interest to you.

I noted that the USA coins were pulled from the USA/Canada album (Album 2) even though the first few pictures show both countries represented in the album.

If there is a series of coins of which I want one or more
I open two ebay sessions and activate both sessions at the same time
And in both sessions I go to my ebay activate that
Then I put one session in the left half of my computer screen
with the first coin activated and clicking renew to determine
response which is for me 6-7 seconds on a normal day
I keep clicking there until finished
I put a second session in the right half of the computer with my predetermined maximum bid sitting allready in the confirm screen
I confirm about 12 seconds before close
Then I move on to the next coin if the time in between allows this
Not so smart ebayers will sometimes end 10 identical coins at the same second and I found afterwards they made less money then those that will put 60 seconds between coins since I myself often raise my predetermined price after five misses

I just looked at the photos in the first link and they are far from all pre-1900's. There are many in the 1960's.

A bid takes 30 seconds
If you got the coin it takes another 60 seconds for a computer banktransfer and I guess the mail will deliver it on your doorstep
What is it I do not understand dear collector ?
Rest in Peace

If time is a critical factor, meaning you or your father are not able to watch the auctions during their final minutes, put in a snipe, i.e., an automatic bid by one of the several services which will bid on your behalf at the last second. This is a somewhat under-handed (by some persons' definition) means of being a "secret" bidder by not letting the other bidders know you are in the running for the coin. The idea is that this will tend to keep the final cost down during a bidding war although it is far from foolproof if others want the item as much as you do and they have put in a proxy bid or snipe higher than your snipe.

I use SnipeSwipe http://www.snipeswipe.com/index.html

Snipe or not to snipe, at the end of the auction, it is the highest bid that wins. When bidding, put in the highest amount you are willing to pay to secure the coin and then leave it to either the proxy or the snipe progs to do your bidding.

Me? On ebay,I am a confirmed sniper and use the auctionsniper program.Very reliable,it has only failed me twice in more than 3 years of use (snipes not submitted).

Besides being able to leave an auction once a snipe is submitted (often days before the end of an auction)it is also my defense against shill bidders and nibblers.

...And rookie bidders who see bids higher than their own and bid just for the sake of winning, actual value irrelevant. Great for the seller, bad for me. It's more comforting to me as a low-life sniper to let the overt bidder think he's got the high bid, then let the sniper program take over on my behalf in the last two seconds of the auction.

I think about 15% of the coins I bid on
the battle is fought out in a bloody slaughter
to the advantage of the seller of course
The other 85 % are automated or not automated
last 10 second snipes
I only snipe manually because I may be willing to go that
last 5 % more sometimes
Also I know the dozen or so other bidders that allways are
intrested in the same coins as I am and I know the bottom
fishers amongst them
