Hey,

I have a Huguenot commemorative half dollar available for sale to me in XF40 grade. What would be a fair price to pay for such a coin? I don't have pictures unfortunately but it is graded by a TPG.

Assuming you're talking about the 1924 issue, probably somewhere in the $90-100 range depending on looks in hand.

Based on recent ebay activity, you could likely find one for less than $60. One listed as being in XF condition recently sold for $35 (including the $3 shipping).

You mention the coin is graded by a TPG service. If it was not graded by PCGS, NGC, ANACS or ICG, the grade assigned might not be accurate and therefore of little value when determining the coin's market price. Such a case would definitely be one of "buy the coin, not the holder."

I agree with Biedercoins that the look of the coin in hand is a determining factor.

There seem to be a lot of circulated examples for sale on ebay.

I would have definitely been a buyer at that price had I seen it.
