Nice coin other than the long scratch (or whatever it is!) running in about a 1/4 inch from the 9 o'clock position on the obverse and continuing across Miss Liberty's waist.
So, with that in mind, the coin will receive an "Unc Details" grade from me today due to the obverse damage.

Also in the "AU details - scratched" camp. Still a nice piece!

AU/BU details - damaged. Really a melt value piece as a common date with a large scratch.

Uggghhh I bought this from APMEX as a "random date BU" coin. Looks like I'll be sending it back!

Yeah definitely send it back if you paid a BU problem free price. That's disappointing APMEX would try to rip you off like that, especially on a high priced item. I'd suggest watching ebay for certified (NGC,PCGS) MS coins on auction and throw in a bid the last 5 seconds to get the best price. If you go to sell later it will be much easier if the coin is certified by PCGS or NGC.

I appreciate the advice! I'll definitely contact them on Monday, I'm very unhappy they would send me this.

I the meantime can you give us a different angle on that scratch? I'd return it for sure but would like to see how bad it is damaged. APMEX disappointment here for sure, they should pay for return shipping.

They sure should - clearly a details coin. Never have been fond of them.

You can bet your bottom dollar that when their "expert" professional buyers bought the coin they darn sure saw the problem!
Yeah, the coin may be "BU", but in this case "BU" means "beat up"!
I would call them Monday morning, let them know you are very unhappy and ask for a prepaid return shipping label. At least get a refund or a coin that meets market standard and YOUR standard!

Makes me wonder what caused that scratch. It appears to have a curve motion to it.

It was probably removed from a bezel and they slipped with the screw driver while bending one of the prongs up. I have never had problems with them on returns and they will replace it with a better coin.
