I just got these [2] in the mail.
I thought I would share them with CCF and everyone.
Compare them to the one's you bought. People are going for their jewels. Buyers are paying $1,300usd+ each for this junk.

The newer China released 1 ounce Perth Mint fake bars in Assay Cards.
That's right. Made in China. Non-magnetic. Will NOT pass x-ray.
They are showing up everywhere in the world. Take them into your local bullion coin dealer they should be able to test them for you with an XRF machine.

so I guess,,,,

1- buy bars only that are NEW for the year

2- when you do buy the bar, new for the year, buy from a reputable dealer.

Sheesh, I hate to THINK of how many fakes dealers are either sitting on or have put in circulation for either being faked out themselves OR not caring to check if they are the real deal.

It is getting to the stage that none of the bullion bars will be a viable option because when you go to sell one of these it will be problematic proving it is genuine with all these fake bars on the market

Yeah, local dealer said its nothing new,the 'Suisse' bars were the fake of choice until the last 5 or 6 years where the Perth Mint was targeted. ACA in Sydney did a story on them a couple of years ago and they had the weight very close to Specs.,a reporter even visited the Chinese factory and the manager/owner didn't try to hide or evade anything and even asked the reporter if he wanted to buy some.
ebay should do more to stop fakes now they have provided a platform for every scam artist and petty criminal in the World.
Only route for genuine Gold/Silver etc. buyers is to deal directly with the Mints and get an individual receipt for each item as going on past history even the Mint receipts are manipulated and forged.

Re: Mcgrimes

Welcome to CCF. Thanks for the shout out.
Glad to see you're one of the educated buyers that do their homework.
The multi-millions of dollars wasted on just Perth and Pamp counterfeits is monumental.
Unfortunately, the flow of counterfeit gold bars entering U.S.A. and other countries is in the infancy stage.
JinaChina will be accelerating production in upcoming monthsyears.
They are attempting to ruin our economy.

I couldn't believe what surfaced on ebay.

ebay seller starpower18 has just listed 2 fake Perth Mint gold bars ebay item 182465512289 I warned about in this previous discussion.
All of starpower18 pics. are either counterfeit or pics. stole from other sites.
http://www.ebay.com/sch/starpower18/m.html

Update:
The fake gold bars listed by starpower18 [sitting in my addidas shoe box next to me] sold within 5 hours for $1,249.

The photo of all counterfeit bars were wired to NCIC[Doug Davis], Perth Mint Australia and Pamp Suisse Switzerland. Also, the Australian Counterfeit Consumer Commission.

Greetings. Researching these Perth Mint bars as there is a local auction happening and I am considering purchasing these if I can get them at a good price although of course I need to know they are real. Will be checking them in person tomorrow 1 day before the auction. This thread has been dormant for a few years and I am wondering if the detail of the Bar Code # is enough to go by. From images earlier in the thread it seems the fakes only have 2 dots on the top of the 0's and the real bar has 3 dots. Is this detail enough to tell fake from real? Thanks ibn advance for any new info.

aghawk-
You can't go by the dots anymore as genuine bars can now show only two dots.
See this posting for easy way of telling.

This only applies to he "B" series of holders.
There is also a new "C" series on the market that has also been counterfeited
and is harder to distinguish.
