Hey guys,

Just joined today and in need of some answers pertaining to this coin:

The-Hong-Kong-One-Dollar-Inquiry

I have:

(1) 1960 Queen Elizabeth the 2nd Hong Kong One Dollar
(2) 1973 Queen Elizabeth the 2nd Hong Kong One Dollar
(2) 1974 Queen Elizabeth the 2nd Hong Kong One Dollar

I'm wondering how much these are currently worth? I probably have more but I'm still sifting through my fathers coin collection. So I was just wondering how much I could get for the Hong Kong One Dollar coins? I'm looking to selling off my fathers coin collection so you'll most likely see more of me on the message boards.

Welcome to the forums wildstormfilms,

I'm assuming your father left these coins for you so my dearest sympathies on the loss. The coins you listed range anywhere from 60 cents (in a grade of VF) to $4 (in a grade of uncirculated).

Before selling anything you should really read up on the topic. I highly recommend you purchase a Krause world coins guide (probably 1901-Present). You can pick up an out of date one from 2006 for about $15 used from Amazon. Also a book on coin grading would be helpful.

Personally, you may want to set aside some coins as a reminder of your Father. And who knows, maybe you'll be handing them down to your son and starting a new tradition

Thank you for the quick response. Yeah my father passed away 11 years ago. I'm going to get me that guide. I lost my home to foreclosure so I'm selling off most of the stuff I the house including these coins. I'm going to keep some but the rest has to go.
