but learning and finding new stuff all the time like now . just found this 1971 s penny with very strong "error "
but somehow cant figure it out if its D/D or just Machine Doubling ;/
the error seems to be only on date and mintmark.

any help would be appreciated .....

Since it appears to reduce the size of the device and has a shelf-like appearance, I'm thinking this is likely Machine Doubling.

In the 1970's, the dies were engraved and then the mint marks were punched in later by hand, depending on which mint the die was used at. D was punched for the Denver mint, S for San Francisco, and no mint mark was used at the Philadelphia mint. If a die had a double image on it, the same doubling would not be seen on the mint mark, as it was punched in separately from the other details.
A doubled die can also show Strike Doubling that matches the doubling on the mint mark, but it will still show the original doubling from the die also. Strike/mechanical doubling happens during the striking process and moves the metal that has already been shaped by the die. A doubled die is a image that is on the die itself and every coin minted with that die will show the same doubled image. A secondary image caused from a problem durning the strike will be flat and close to the surface of the coin, where a doubled die's secondary image will be raised, more like the original image.
On Lincoln cents, the mint marks were punched into the dies by hand until 1990. That is why we do not find any re-punched mint marks on cents after 1989.

You can see how the raised devices appear narrower on the top image compared to the doubled die at the bottom.
You can also see the Mechanical Doubling on the mint marks of BOTH coins, but if you will look closely, you can see the doubling on the mint mark doesn't match the other doubling on the doubled die coin.

About 1.5 cents at today's Copper prices!
There are some collectors that do collect this type of error, but since it's not an actual die variety, the collector value would be small if any.
