found this in my old book of coins started for one of the kids a ways back.. anyhow this one looks very different and it stands out as darker and the rim is different... I tried looking up what could make it look like this, and all I could find was the 2001 experimental anti tarnish rinse... and of course PMD...
so..

how do I tell if this is a mint anti tarnish rinse or a drop in a puddle

if it is the mint rinse. does it have any collectible value?

As always thank you in advance for your help and expert advise :)

first pic is a side by side with another sacagawea for color comparison.. I didn't have another 2001 so an 00 hopefully is helpful..

I tried to get a pic of the side of the rim.. to show the clad.

For the 2000-P the finish color is important:

Note the surface on the normal coins is shiny, but the Goodacre presentation is a lot better finish. If you are searching through the circulation examples, they will probably not be found. They were a special run.
On the 2005-2008 sac there are the normal-satin finish-proof coins that year.

According to the website, they show 2005-2008 (P-D) satin finish for the original design and 2010 satin on that one year with the new reverse.

thank you john1, that is what I had found when looking for instances. and in my very uneducated opinion. my coin looks just like the big one on the link. so is the only way to tell if this coin is a rinse or some other thing by sending it in?

coop. I'm not sure how these finish options help me...I'm looking at the 2001P - and none of your examples look like mine... the finish is so completely different...?

marymanard,
Did you notice on the link I gave you the experimental rinse one looks darker kinda coppery and yours looks more like manganese color? If you want to,contact the web site and see if you can send them pics to look at.

The finishes were only listed on the link, that shows what was known. If there is something not mentioned, then chances are it is a normal issue that has changed color with circulation. When you look at the first gold sac when they were circulating, after about a year they started changing colors. (in just one year) So unless the coin is a BU example, it is probably just a common one. The special finishes were not sent out at random. They were purchased in sets. The 2000-P Goodacre coins were a special presentation to that individual. They were not for general circulation.
