A few I picked up along the way, not the best, but typically not that easy to find.

17th and 18th century milled copper is very much my thing so it's nice to find someone posting images here. Your short-haired obverse 1665 pattern is particularly pleasing.

I think those dated 1665 are patterns and not regular issue. All the references I have seen state the first farthings of this sort were issued in 1672.

Tony Clayton's website mentions a 1665 pattern. Spink 2012 does not mention it at all, neither does my aged copy of Krause.

Not only do you have some nice coins there, but they are of significant interest and may be valuable.

The 1665 coins are indeed patterns (you'll note I mention this in my reply to the topic).
The 1672 'loose drapery' coins were the first issued for general circulation but, in the previous year, a small number of almost identical looking patterns dated 1671 were minted in both copper and silver. The only difference between those and the 1672 issue is the date and a stop on the obverse after Carolo. Most of the 1671 copper patterns ended up in circulation and are rare even in low grades.

Hi EF,
You're very welcome. When time allows I'll post a few early coppers images of my own here too. I have quite a collection of 'varieties' which you may like to see.

That would be great Hogarth! I collect the early halfpennies more than the farthings, but enjoy looking at any early milled copper!

Excellent. Always good to run into another enthusiast.
I have plenty I can share (varieties etc.) and will post a first batch of images at the weekend.
