This is a Double Sovereign (Authorized Version) purchased from The Royal Mint . Any input to the above is welcome.

Alloy outer: 0.925 Ag. Plated with fine gold
Weight: 24.00 g
Diameter: 28.40 mm

Reverse Designer: Paul Stafford & Benjamin Wright
Edge Inscription: The Authorized Version

Piedfort coins originated in medieval France. The name signifies 'heavy measure', a term still entirely appropriate to the Piedfort today since, struck on thicker than normal blanks, a silver Piedfort coin is customarily double the thickness and so double the weight of its standard silver counterpart.

To be honest, I'm no fan of The Royal Mint 'commemorative' issues and most I find lack basic eye appeal. By all means collect and enjoy them if that's your thing, but always remember you will never recoup your outlay should you wish to sell in the future.

Ha, yes! I did indeed decide to look. I often check in to read any new content.
Actually, as I hail from the same neck of the woods, and even attended the same art school, it was fun to see they've produced a John Lennon coin. However, this doesn't mean to say I'd be interested in buying one.
As I said earlier, if you enjoy these RM issues great, accept them for what they are and I wish you many happy years of collecting.

Thank you for the humor. I added some additional information on the aforesaid. I've also a John Lennon coin pictured. Anyways, we mainly collect United States coins as these were only specimens added to our collection.

Yes, I referred to the Lennon coin because I saw you had posted an image of one. Do you also have a photo of the reverse you could add? It would be interesting to see it.

You mean the obverse of the John Lennon. Sorry, I misconstrued the details but I've posted some pictures of the John Lennon coin (Obverse) on the John Lennon link. I believe that the Queen is the 'obverse', no ?
