Does anyone know if there will be a special specimen set that has the unique toonie in it?
In previous years it seemed to be released in August. 2012 - Wolf Cubs 2013 - Bear Cubs 2014 - Rabbits 2015 - Raccoons

I was wondering as well, recently added past releases to update my toonie collection. To add to your list - 2010 Young Lynx 2011 Baby Elk

Quote: I ordered these around July Yes, the set usually came out early summer and the mintage is half of the special loon set. Would make more sense to issue 15,000 of both than cancelling the second set particularly for those that collect specimen strikes.

disappointing if they cancel this set this year. As a Toonie collector I was looking forward to adding this to my collection.

It was also the only set in which you could get a 'normal' specimen loon dollar...

then it doesn't make sense to discontinue this set, hope they only changed the release schedule.

Thanks for the confirmation shopaholic.
For collectors who might decide to begin a toonie collection from 1996, circulation/PL complimented by the few NCLT that have been released to date, certainly far fewer to track down compared to that of a loonie collection.

True - but far more expensive, if you include the various gold twoonies that would be included in a proof collection...

Yes those four gold proof toonies definitely impact the price of a toonie collection, depending on whether a collector chooses to include them or not. I noticed fairly large price swings in what they sell for on the secondary market -- great patience, determination, tracking, research and closely watching all sources including dealers, ebay, auctions, etc can substantially reduce the total cost. Search and seek - great fun!

@wilsonwu89 SHhhhhh! That set is under my "Just Forget It!" list.
Given the baby animal toonie series has been cancelled in 2016, it's sort of disappointing that a 20th anniversary toonie wasn't issued, one that was affordable for us common folk.
