Anyone know of this listed anywhere? I dont see it on a VAM list. There is an imprint, west side under the top of the serif.

Normal VAM 5. Elaborate more on imprint.

Sure looks like it does. It looks exactly like the VAM 5 picture to me, with the loop in the top and bottom of the 8.

No, but it has the proper doubling under the top of the 1, and in the bottom loop of the 8. It's quite possible that a momentary fill blocked that one feature - it's thin enough so it wouldn't take much. Check the location of the 1 relative to the point of the neck - it should be just a little more than two full denticles away.

$10,000 That's it? send me two of them. I'll put it in the book right next to my 1878 VAM 44.

SuperDave, I think you live on your computer. I'm gone for a couple of hours, and I find that you've beat me again.

Man, I missed a decimal. $10,000,000 that sounds even better.

j_h_s,

I try, but it's getting hard. My wife is going to start grounding me from my computer. She's complaining that I spend more time on the forums than I do with her.

Maybe if she had some nice die cracks on her face I'd be more interested. Do you think perhaps I have been looking at coins too long?
