2006l Quarter Multi-Ply Defect ?

Hello Forum,

I want your opinion on a coin I discovered while sorting through bank rolls. The image here shows a portion of the quarter that appears to be plated in copper. The obverse of the coin is all nickel without a trace of plating. I discovered the coin last year and none thereafter.

2006l-Quarter-Multi-Ply-Defect-?

My guess is that this is a multi-ply defect but I have never seen anything like this before. Anybody else found something similar?

Marc, that is a nice one! The photo is great. I hace seen similar with our <(zinc) junk, but not any Canadian, so far.
