For those of you that use this lens (some exclusively), how do you determine what is the best F-stop and camera settings to get the best clarity/resolution prior to post-processing?

I'm using a T6i on a bellows and A-stand with this lens. I took a photo at f4, f8, and f11 of a Roosevelt dime. I won't post these unless requested. To my eye, I don't see a whole lot of difference in the photos.

What am I missing?

What should I look for to determine if I'm getting the best focus and resolution for coin pics using this lens?

Is there any technical comparison to be made with this lens against my prime lens, a Canon EF 100mm f2.8L Macro IS USM? Or are these lenses night and day apart?

Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

For non-stacked shots with the 75mm APO Rodagon D1x (75ARD1x), I just use f/8, as a compromise between DOF and diffraction. The DLA for the T6î and T6s is around f/5.6, but with the AA filter and debayering, it's more like f/8. I don't think you see any real fuzziness until you get well past f/8, or even f/11. For stacking with the 75ARD1x, I use halfway between f/4 and f/5.6.

I have the non-L 100mm/2.8 Canon macro, but I've never done a good comparison with the 75ARD1x. I'm guessing that you'd hardly notice any difference. Most decent Macro lenses I've tested with the USAF test chart seem to outresolve the T6s sensor, at least at the center. Resolution at the corners might be a different story altogether.

I actually just bought a non-L 100mm and will do a comparison soon.

Are you looking at 100% pixel view, or a downsized image? If downsized, you won't see much difference, and actually F11 will probably be superior since it has greater DOF. At 100% you will probably see best performance at f5.6 but DOF will be compromised, so I agree with pepactonius on the f8 recommendation.
