The RCM must be desperate to get rid of unwanted coins if they have to run this promotion. I am sure business must be down for them because coins are not selling out anymore.

The 3 coins for the $550 amount to exactly a 30% discount. Why not give a straight 30% off instead?

I guess the Lucky Loonie rolls must not be selling very well if they're giving them away now. If they charged face value for the roll like they are with the 5 pack, I likely would have taken one or two off their hands.

Simple, they receive $550 instead of only $385. Remember, this is just like any other business, it's nearly the end of the 3rd quarter and they probably need to meet their forecasted numbers. Nothing worse than showing declining sales from the previous year right?

Secondly, the $165 in free goods only cost them about $50-$55 so the Mint wins again!

in retail its is cheaper to give free stuff than to offer a discount, remember that those coins only cost them a fraction of the retail price, so in terms of hard $$ it is probably more like 5%~10% discount

I'd be mad if I had already bought these free coins and now decided to buy something of high cost. I think these offers should come out as the coins are released to avoid that situation.

They must be thousands away from a sell out with these free coins.

I am one of those who have already purchased the 1/2oz maple leave coin. But I am not mad, I learn from it.

"Don't buy any high mintage (6500+) product from the Mint once they were released, they will either go on sale from local coin stores, or the Mint will give them away for free"

Besides, the time I spent waiting for a good deal really let me cool down and think about whether the coin is a good addition to my collection, and greatly reduce impulse buying.

I am as well
and since then, didn't buy single RCM item (except the circulation packs), only few coins from foreign mints.
And the "cooling period" helps to avoid unnecessary purchase.

And anyway, I prefer CAD 30 discount, rather 1/2 oz high mintage silver coin.

Colour me slightly bummed to have seen this in my email; I did pay FRP for the Maple Leaves, but I think it's one of the nicer designs so I'm still okay with that. :)

Chalk me up as another who'd be buying more than 5 Lucky Loonies if they weren't asking 100% markup on the rolls... $25 (or even $30, honestly) and I'd almost certainly get at least one roll, but not for $50... I only got the 50c roll because I had a save $10 deal to cut the markup from 12.50 to 2.50....

I still don't know how I feel about the Maple Leaf Geese, but I'm fairly certain they're not going to convince me to jump on this deal...

I have been using the Wish List on CA for the past number
of months as a cooling off area for purchases. If it lasts
in the Wish List after a couple of weeks without being sold
out, and I still want it I will buy, if it sells out then
Que sera sera.

I bought the Maple Leaf coin ahead of this promotion but
note that there is not really $175 in coins that I want.

My rep never said anything about this promotion.

I simply placed a web order this morning and sent off an email to him cancelling what was still processing.

Talk about shady!!
