The RCM web site is now listing a new $20 silver coin in commemoration of the Royal Tour that will soon be underway in Canada -- the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be touring western Canada from September 24 to October 1.

It's a one-ounce silver coin in the style of "photo on a coin" vs. 3-D engraving.

Priced at $109.95 CAD.

Is this 1 week visit really coin worthy? I suppose if there's a market, it'll be made. It would have been nice if the photo was actually taken while they were on Canadian soil. I'm curious to know when it was taken and where, not that it really matters.

It was taken in late October 2015 in their garden at Kensington Palace and used for their Christmas card.

I was trying to decide what coin/commemorative to place on the front of the club newsletter I edit. Thanks RCM!

Now this will due just nicely. Sure beats the haunted coin.

Wouldn't it be cool to be able to get a coin with your own picture on it? Canada Post does it with stamps. You send them the picture, pay a premium and you get your own picture on your stamp. http://www.picturepostage.ca/

Why can't RCM do that too?
