I figured out what was going wrong with uploading the photos. Here's the photo for my previous post.

That's a stain from a contaminant on the coin spreading across the surface of the coin like cancer...not an extra zero.

N Giles and CD Doughtery-Thank You for the reply. What you see in the photo is what it is. I've not modified the coin or a picture of it in any way. I wouldn't know how even if I had such a program--It was quite a challenge for me to just get the photo downloaded. I purchased the mint proof set from the mint in 2000 and the set is still in the orginal plastic holder from the mint. I took the picture with zPix ditgital Microscope through the plastic holder.
I'm new to Coin Community and coin collecting and have many more questions so you will be hearing more from me, and I'll try not to be a nuisance. I look forward to learning from all of you and this site.
Again Thank You-Steve

Hmmm...an extra zero should have similar definition to the neighboring devices. I see a mark of some kind of oxidation/deposition which thins towards the margins. The "zero" outline effect is probably due to where an equal thickness of deposition refracts light in a particular direction. You'll see the same effect with a drop of oil spreading over water. It's called optical interference. Once again, more info than you need to know!

Steve,

You don't need to worry about being a nuisance. It's nice to have a new perspective on things. This site is here to help us all learn, no matter how long we have been collecting. You will find a lot of people here who are more than willing to help you out. Welcome and have fun.

Your coin must have an oil spot if the picture hasn't been modified.
