I believe I posted about these two coins in the canadian forum a while back and got some info but I can no longer find the thread. I have not been able to find out a whole lot tho. One thing I am trying to find out is wheter or not they have any collector value or are they strictly a bullion coin? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
A very nice pair sold last year at a Heritage auction for $413.
Their description:
quote:(1898) Manitoba, Canada, Gold One Dollar and Half Dollar Pair. A pair of gold tokens dated 1898, but struck in the early 1950s. The one dollar token measures 15 mm and weighs 3.1 gm; the smaller half dollar token is 12 mm and weighs 1.9 gm. Both pieces are in choice prooflike condition, and we believe the gold is 14 karat. The market value is about $175-$275.
