Hi again! I have an uncirculated 2000 nickel that has the the "P" mark on the obverse. I would say the grade is between MS-66 and MS-67. I do not have Canadian Coins 62nd edition but I do have the 60th. I'm asking because I don't want to pay $20 for the 62nd edition. I wan to wait for the 63rd that comes out in July. My question is: What are the prices in all grades for the 2000 5 Cent with the "P" mark included? Thanks, Oli
P.S. I know the mintage is 4,899,000

The 2000P was produced for circulation only, so MS-65 is pretty much the highest grade one can find.

If you believe you have MS-66 or 67 then it is worth having the coin certified. Remember that MS-65 are considered nearly perfect coins, with very few and minor contact marks.

I'd like to see a scan of your coin.

I forgot to include this picture of a 2000W nickel. Like this one, at MS-67 you'd expect an almost flawless surface.

(the golden color isn't a picture aberration; the copper composition has oxidized).

Hi Marc. My scanner doesn't seem to work properly. Can I describe the condition of it and you can say a grade? This is the description of my 2000 "P" Nickel. It is basically like the coin above but on the obverse has a minor scratch above II. I'm only a junior coin collector but I think it would be an MS-65. Thanks, Oli

Hi multicolorama,

Without seeing the coin it is a little difficult... At MS-67 imperfections are seen only after extensive study with 4x mag. According to your description, your coin is disqualified at MS-67 due to the scratch. I noticed in your last post that your grade has come down from MS-67/66 to MS-65 so this is consistent with your description.

At MS-65, the coin appears almost perfect but after examination minor flaws will be discovered. The question now is if the scratch is minor or not. Only you can tell. Without having seen the coin but knowing what a 2000P looks like from the best bank roll I'd say it is probably MS-63/64. This is where a picture would help...
