My kids and I have a challenge: find the greatest number of consecutive decades represented in 1 roll, any denomination. It seems easier than it is. The record here right now is 9 (held by my 9-year old). We have found that nickels are easier than cents, even though there are ten more coins in cent rolls than nickels.

Here's my 8 from tonight ('41, '57, '62, '71, '89, '93, '08, '13) from nickels. Join the fun and post!

It'd be hard to top 9 decades in a single roll! Maybe a collection dump, but any denomination becomes vanishingly scarce past the 1930s.

I think I'm in the 8 crowd myself; I have maybe found a nickel roll with a 1939, 40-something, 58-D, and of course 60s through 00s. Of course that was in 2009, so...

And tonight I joined my son in the 9-decade club:

I wish there had been a Buffalo nickel from the 20s in that roll!
