Hi All,

I found this clipped 1/2 real yesterday while metal detecting. Can any of the cob experts determine a date and origin? Many thanks!

This appears to be a Potosi half real cob, with monogram of one of the Philips. I place it with Philip III, circa 1620. It was most probably made before 1700. These were undated and many had Assayer initials "T"

Thanks for the response, Pistareen! I've been doing some more online research and it has led me to suspect that it is a Philip IV 1/2 real cob from Bogota. Looks very similar to this one: https://www.numisbids.com/n.php?p=l...706&lot=1083

What do you think? This was found a few hours from Bogota, which would increase the likelihood, no?
