A farthing must have sat on top of this one for a long time and wasn't moved about. The red circle is the size of a farthing. Not well struck up, but a nice example.
As you say; looks like another soft strike, but the area of residual lustre ('mint red' over there) is a bonus. I've always liked the George I copper, chunky design, chunky coins. I wonder how many years it would have taken for another coin, sitting on top of this one, to create that circular mint red/toning effect. Fascinating.
