babybird Valued Member United States 81 Posts	Posted 09/29/2016 11:55 pm Hi, I was looking at my 2004 Westward Journey set and I seen the Philadelphia nickel is really dark on the reverse but the obverse is super shiney. It also is very "thick" compared to a different Philadelphia nickel and I was wondering if it could be a doubled die or are all like this one. Thank you for your help. Report this Post to the Staff

The finished looks altered on it. There is also some toning on the coin. Natural or artificial? Hard to say from the images provided. Report this Post to the Staff

babybird Valued Member United States 81 Posts	Posted 09/30/2016 03:21 am Here are some, I think better, pictures. I kept the P coin on the left in all pics. These coins are suppose to be uncirculateted. The P coin is nice on the obverse but the reverse looks "burnt" all the way around the edge of it. The D coin looks "burnt" on both sides. Unless there is some grease from my fingers there isn't anything else on either of them. Sorry if I duplicated any. Report this Post to the Staff

Could a coin tone on just one side when it hasn't been subjected to any light or elements of any kind? Is this toning? Thank you for the information. Report this Post to the Staff
