As prices rise for gas, oil, food, etc. what will happen to gold silver platinum prices?

When the fed raises interest rates to counter inflationary pressures, will precious metal prices fall?

Or maybe the major stock markets will tank as a result of an interest rate hike and investors will buy into precious metals more than ever?

as for reagan, bush sr., and cheney/bush/carlyle economics: you can throw all Economics college courses out the window when capitalism's cloaked in greed.

Yes, and the way the fed is talking now, when we recover from this 'recession' they will address the inflation issue hard and fast. So commodity prices will drop fairly fast as they will lose all of the speculators. But, the growing worldwide demand will help to bouy their prices somewhat. I actually see gold prices going closer to $1500 IMHO.

As interest rates rise people will migrate out of the stock market and into bonds, the higher the rate on bonds the more people see them as a better risk/return investment. They will also mighate out of gold which, unlike many stocks, doesn't even pay a dividend.

is it just me or is say this kinda like saying, "the sun will shine sometime next month." I mean 250 points ago that was a good prediction, but with only a few points to go... I dunno, it just seems to lack the effect that it had 6 months ago.

As the prescious metals rise, so does the dollar FALL!
The prices of everything are so bloated that it is like the German Marks, going to "zillions", and "not worth the paper they were written on" It hasn't been that long since the dodge pickup was $1795.00, now it goes for $17,950.00! We have inflation in everything but wagers! Why is that? Can you just see wages floating, like they do with some of the foreign currencies? In a pigs eye! I wonder if the dollar keeps falling, how long it will take us to get back to prospecting for gold, again? I for one, have never quit!

I only prospect for silver, and my claim of choice is a fed box of halves.

Morgan Noob, I hear ya!But, an ounce of gold is not that hard to get, if you don't mind doing a little hard work with a dry-washer, and a nice little dry creek bed with black sand in it. Of course not ALL black sand will also havere gold in the sand. It gives you a good apetite, and keepe the callouses from forming from that old rocking chair! Sure is nice to look at, too!

I expect silver to go to at least $25 and Gold slowly climb to at least $1200-$1500 by the end of the year
