Hey, What are the thoughts on the grade and value of this coin? It's not a very good quality to be fair but still a difficult classic commemorative. *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

Actually, this coin is in very low grade for the type. Additionally, the scrape on the obverse and bad rim dings on the reverse would even remove it from most low-ball collectors consideration.
In short, even with its low mintage, it is doubtful that you could sell it for more than $50 at the very most, and it might take some time for it to sell, even at that price.

I would say! Remarkable - never seen one close to this grade.

carry it in your pocket until the color evens out and the rim issues become less noticeable from more wear..if it works you will have a really desirable low ball coin worth more than the $50.
Feel free to call me Will.

This coin was available for quite a while on ebay ... without selling ... for a reason. It is damaged well beyond repair as a result of the obverse gouges and significant rim hits visible on the reverse. The overall 'look' ... or eye appeal ... of this example ... while likely authentic ... is not pleasing ... and for those reasons the true experts chasing this lovely series in truly certifiable circulated condition chose to pass during the multiple ebay appearances. I do not presume to know your collecting goals ... but do recall offering an informed opinion on several of your classic commemorative selections. In that regard ... this is an acceptable coin if you only strive to have an example ... you need to decide if it works for your collecting wishes. David ps .. I'm the one who suggested to the Mod Dudes to move your post to the correct forum.

No offense intended, but, from my perspective, the coin shown is one that I could never recommend to any collector at any price. It is just too far removed from its "better days" and shows clear signs of abuse. There has to be a better choice out there, even on a limited budget.
Patience would be my advice!

I would pay $5 for this piece, but not a penny more.

I'd pay $10 for it and put it in my pocket for the next year or two.
IIRC, Pan-Pac is a one year type, so it could wear down a good deal more and still be possible to identify. And I've been looking for a nice silver pocket piece...

Not sure what the current lowball is but I bet as you mentioned it would be "gradable" even with the slightest detail. If the money is there I bet this coin in the right hands of a disreputable dealer or crack out artist who could tool the reverse rims and smooth the obverse fields and then hand it off to a pocket piece carrier (I will volunteer for a 50/50 split) and in a year or two's time you would have a winner. As I have said before I will gladly add anyone's coin on consignment to wear with the rest of my pocket pieces (you pay return postage).
