This variety I have a lot of problems with telling the difference.
I understood that if the 2 was below the line it was far? I like a variety that just jumps out, like the 1926 near far. Will probably never add the 1932 far to my collection for that reason, though I understand it to be quite scarce?
It's definitely a near 2. When drawing "the line" it is important that the line touches the top of the 1. Here is the OP's picture with the line redrawn. Notice how both the top of the 1 and 2 hit the line. In a far 2, there will be no doubt about the 2 being below the line and the distance between the 3 and 2 will be tighter than the distance between the 9 and 3.
@TheForce - Yours is a Near 2. I don't buy into the need to break out this series into near/far from the rim for the S which I suspect is just a subtle differences in how the edges of the working dies were prepared/finished.
