Hi,

I just want to ensure that this LC is NOT a Newcomb 4.

I'm really not interested finding out if it is one of the other varieties only because of its low grade and perceived lower value at those grades.

Thx

I'm just checking back to make sure that you guys know that I am not looking for a full attribution of this coin: just some professional opinions ruling out that it is not a Newcomb-4 variety.

I've got a little difficulty interpreting the book and it's abbreviations for each feature.

The specific area that is questionable for me is the position of star one with respect to the date and neck/bust for a Newcomb 4.

I t is NOT N-4. Diagnostic feature for N-4 is star 10, it points into the notch in the hair bun. On others it points at the upper lobe of hair in the bun.
This is an ealy die stage N-4

The obv rapidly broke down and developed a low areas and then a crack through star 3 toward the lips. This is a late stage N-4.

Your coin is N-5 with the 81 very close together and just about even at the top. N-1 also has 81 close but not this close and the top of the 1 is well below the top of the 8.
