Quote:My apologies, I meant the coin "should sell well for RCM" It just RCM 's decoy item, guys. I think, from the 200K+ of maximal mintage, will be sold no more than 30-50K. But Mint doesn't care, the target of these coins just to attract as many as possible new people to the collecting buying more expensive coins from the Mint. So, yes, at the bottom line it will be good for RCM, but doesn't mean that they will sell a lot.

@silveroid The RCM will probably sell more than the 30-50K out of the 200K mintage. The elf will be available for a whole year on their site and people don't mind spending $20.00 for $20.00 on a coin that they believe will retain its face value. The RCM probably does not mint the whole estimated amount at once and these do make great stocking stuffers.:)))))

For those who ordered the Elf from the mint directly...
Did the coin come in a plastic wrap like at the post office? Or is it still just the cardboard by itselfd?

I just received my elf coins from the Mint. No plastic wrap. The 20/20, 25/25, 50/50 coins never come with a plastic wrap when directly ordered from the RCM. These coins sold at the Mint Boutique in Vancouver always come with the plastic wrap so I usually buy them there.

Thanks for reminding me about these coins. For some reason, my rep failed to place the standing order for these ones. He sent an e-mail two weeks ago saying no need to reply if you have a standing order. I'm sure he'll say he was busy and didn't get around to it yet but come on - if people ordered these two weeks ago and have them, shouldn't I expect that committing to buying them 10 months ago would get me some sort of priority? (yes that is rhetorical) Anyway, if you have a standing order and think that's enough to get the coins ordered...it might not be.

My standing order was re-instated automatically. The reps at RCM are going through rough times. They are as much in the dark as we are.

20/20 or 25/25 or 50/50 have never come in outside plastic wrap from the RCM. You get the flip card and the coin in a capsule in a plastic pouch so they are able to stick to the inside of the flip card. When you buy from Canada Post, you will get the plastic wrap but you pay 5.00 more.

Does anyone know what happened to the elf coin on the mint website? I decided not to buy this one right away and save it for my Christmas list this year. When Christmas came a family member told me they tried to get the coin but were unable to order one. I went online the next day and saw that the status of the coin was set to "Archived" and I have been checking everyday since. Surely they haven't sold out the 275K mintage yet.

As of December 5th, this question was answered on mint.caQ: Do you still have this silver coin ? Let me know when your stock are available . Thanks Asked on 12/2/2016 by Jian Jun Wang from Mississauga, Ontario Know the answer? Answer this question 1 answer Staff Reviewer A: Hi Jian, As of today we do not have any more stock of this coins. If more are made they will be available to buy at that time. Please check back on mint.ca later this week. Answered on 12/5/2016 by Chad from Ottawa - See more at: http://www.mint.ca/store/coins/25-f...531#QAHeaderSo, my guess, is if there isn't much more demand, they won't be making more.
