I found this 1958 Wheat penny in an old lincoln head cent book (starting 1941) and it sure looks like a weak strike to me. There is no rim whatsoever. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thx

It is definitely possible and to be honest that was my first thought but how can you say it was sanded with such certainty? What are you seeing that makes you give that opinion? Thx

Scratches from something that would sand it down, also, you can't have a low pressure strike on only one side

Definitely PMD, caused by rev rims being filed/sanded off. Evident by the multitude of scratches visible.
life is a mystery to be lived not a problem to be solved
Rest in Peace
